High School Softball is Back!

Hello everyone! As we approach high school softball season this week, take a few minutes to think about these things:

πŸ₯Ž – High School softball is made up of a diverse group of talent and this is one of the things I personally love about coaching it. Taking different levels of talent, different approaches to the game and blending them to create a group that loves to compete is one of the best feelings one can have as a coach.

πŸ₯Ž – Very important fact – in high school softball not everyone is playing with the thought of moving on to the next level. For those that are, it’s really great to see them use their talent on the field and even better when they display leadership and mentoring to their teammates.

But here’s the point of this thought – for some girls, high school softball is an escape – an escape from areas in their life that cause stress and anxiety.

πŸ₯Ž – So think about this as a player or parent of a player before you criticize a player who may not measure up to your standards. Let them play, make errors and strikeout and learn how to fix those mistakes and celebrate their successes. Oh and you can celebrate their successes with them – cheer them on, let them hear you!

πŸ₯Ž – More life lessons are learned in practice, dugouts and games than most people realize. As they listen and learn this will benefit them long after their softball days are over.

πŸ₯Ž – Lastly, be ready to listen them. Did you hear that? Just sit and listen to them – then give advice if they are wanting it. Most of the time, they just need someone to listen. It’s tough as a parent to not give unsolicited feedback – trust me I know πŸ˜€

Praying everyone reading this (student-athletes, parents, coaches) has a season full of learning, growing and enjoyable high school #softball season!
